Types of boats you can insure
As long as your boat or personal watercraft (PWC) is not valued at more than $350,000 or longer than 50 feet, you can most likely insure it. Usually, it’s as simple as that. However there are some limitations, call us at (888) 546-1099, and we’ll do our best to get you covered.
Most commonly insured vessels
A boat that uses at least one sail for power but may also have a motor for an additional power source. Sailboat insurance costs for vessels without motors are usually a little bit lower.
A boat built on pontoons (usually hollow metal cylinders) with a flat surface to walk or sit on. Many pontoons are designed for slow movement on inland lakes and rivers.
Common PWCs include Jet Skis, Sea Doos, Waverunners or similar vessels usually for one to three people. You can get very similar coverage, but for the most part, PWCs are more affordable to insure.
This is similar to fishing boat insurance or insurance for any other pleasure watercraft. Consider getting coverage for gear or carry-on items which can get you full replacement cost for all your gear you carry.
These are usually much larger boats that are designed for slower movement and have full kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and other common areas. For houseboats, you might want to get our coverage for gear/carry-on items. This will insure your cell phones, fishing equipment, clothes or other personal property on board.
